Day Personality
(Section Five—Characters Six and Seven)
Today's "constellation personality" is Heart-Mind (心). Calendrical interpretations stress that it is generally unlucky, so don't put all your cards in the heart-mind basket. It is a particularly bad day for building projects and lawsuits. It sounds good doesn't it ("heart-mind"). It is a good deal more problematic than that, though. Let's think of it along the lines of "heart-ache."
The jianchu "personality" is Discard (除). It is a particularly good day for cleansing, purging, and and starting things anew. It is not a good day for weddings, travel, and public events.

There are three beneficent asterisms today: Heavenly Virtue (天德), Linked Days (合日), and Auspicious Time-Slice (吉期). They're red-ink positive and good by definition.

There are three inauspicious (凶) two-hour periods, four in-between (中) times, and five auspicious (吉) times. Creeping auspiciousness inflation. What ever happened to the almost daily "4-4-4" of my (relative) youth?

It's a bad day for Stove Work (作灶), Thatched Coverings (善蓋), and Discarding Clothing (除服). Think about these (even though it is a "Discard" day, just don't do it with clothing, I guess).

二十四節氣), which
began on Saturday, May 5 and runs through Sunday, May 20. It is called
Beginning of Summer (立夏). We are in the twentieth of the seventy-two
five-day
solar micro periods (the 七十二候). It is called Earthworms Come Forth
(蚯蚓出). It began on Thursday, May 10, and runs through Tuesday, May 15.

The baleful asterisms (the bottom of section six) are Repeat Mourning (重喪), Widespread Pond (咸池), Repeated Days (復日), and Yang General (陽將). They're scary.
Miscellaneous Omens and Activities
(Sections Seven and Eight)
Today's miscellaneous omens (just one) is White (白). The miscellaneous activities are Kitchen (廚), Pestle (碓), and stove (灶). Nobody knows what they mean (and this assessment is based on thirty years of calendrical fieldwork).
